ELECTRICIAN, JOURNEYPERSON LEAD HAND

Oakpark Powerline Services is seeking an experienced Journeyperson Electrician to fill a Lead Hand position. This position supports the company by managing staff, overseeing multiple small jobs, managing timelines, problem solving, assembling, installing, testing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical wiring, control devices and related equipment primarily in an outdoor setting – collaborating with other trades. This position reports to the designated electrical supervisors and the designated project manager.

REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES:

• Red Seal Electrical certificate
• Valid HC Trade License (MB)
• Class 5 driver’s license with air brake endorsement (or equivalent) with satisfactory driver’s abstract
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal to interact effectively with colleagues and project stakeholders
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Able to work independently without supervision
• Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed an asset
• Ability to work out of town for periods of up to 2 weeks at a time considered an asset
• Experience working in commercial / industrial settings
• Experience working on emergency services

Experience:

• Supervise other employees ensuring quality, productivity and safety standards are met
• Manage multiple projects, communicating any discrepancies with the project manager
• Assign staff to appropriate projects that support deadlines
• Coach and mentor both journeyperson and apprentices
• Install, replace, repair, maintain, troubleshoot and test electrical fixtures, controls, distribution equipment and circuits
• Read and interpret drawings and diagrams
• Splice, join and connect wires; including pulling through conduit
• Participate in site inspections
• Participate in creating and maintaining a safe work environment
• Maintain current knowledge of the Electrical Code
• Supervise and coach Electrical Apprentices
• Drive company vehicle
• Complete and communicate daily paperwork such as JHA, Pre-Trips and Production Reports
