Job Overview
Reports to: Shop Foreman
Shift: 7 on, 7 off, Monday to Sunday
Location: Sparwood, BC
Relocation: This position does not offer relocation.

Responsibilities

• Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, portable boring machine in a shop environment.
• Setup and operate field boring and milling equipment as required on customer sites.
• Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers
• Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Willingness to work overtime when required
• Ability to work different rotating shifts
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision but also participate in the work of other machinists, millwrights and apprentices within the field environment.
• Other duties, as assigned

Education / Qualification

• Journeyperson Machinist Trades Certification is required.
• 3-7 years of mining or construction related experience is an asset.
• Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and Vernier calipers
• Must have no restrictions for access for any mine site
• Previous experience work with P&H and Joy products would be an asset
• Must have a valid driver’s license
