This position is not confined to shop activities as the Mechanic may be required to perform field work on down buses. * Ongoing maintenance / repair of buses * Diagnosing equipment problems * CVIP Inspections * Preventive Maintenance (PM) Inspections * Respond to road call breakdowns * Complete all documentation associated with equipment repairs * Work with shop management to maintain schedules and priorities * Follow SOUTHLAND procedures and guidelines * Maintain a clean and orderly work environment Requirements * Journeyperson Mechanic ticket (Heavy Duty or Automotive) * 2 – 5 years related experience * School bus and diesel repair experience considered an asset * Engine repair experience desired * Valid class 5 driver’s license (class 2 or 3 considered an asset) * CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program) License considered an asset * Own hand tools * Fluent in written and spoken English * Ability to comprehend/operate diagnostic and manual measuring tools * Analytical and troubleshooting skills * Computer proficiency * Willingness to mentor Apprentices * Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks at once Remuneration * Commensurate with experience * Bi-weekly pay period (every second Friday) * Employee Benefits Plan (after 3-month probation) * Group Registered Retirement Savings (RRSP) Plan (available after 12 months) * Annual Tool and Boot Allowance (pro-rated from start date - available in the last quarter of the year, and each subsequent year) #ZRHP
