Job Title: Junior Accountant Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Junior Accountant to join a thriving construction company in the Rio Rancho area. The ideal candidate will support various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a rapidly expanding team and develop valuable skills in a dynamic work environment. Responsibilities Record and maintain general ledger entries. Manage daily cash receipts, deposits, and bank reconciliations. Handle journal entries, coding, depreciations, and booking interest, income, and expenses. Prepare and apply cash payments accurately and timely to customer accounts. Maintain records for monthly sales and use tax reporting. Manage monthly lease schedules and fixed assets accounting systems. Prepare customer/client billings as needed. Analyze and maintain monthly general ledger reconciliations, identifying issues and processing corrections. Prepare monthly/quarterly allocation of overhead costs. Maintain a paperless invoice routing and approval system. Cross-train with team members to act as backup for key accounting duties. Prepare or assist in various monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Research, interpret, and apply GAAP to maintain accounting records and prepare financial statements. Assist with the annual audit and streamline internal and business reporting processes. Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls. Support the Finance and Accounting team with activities, projects, and analyses as needed. Essential Skills Accounting knowledge with at least 2+ years of relevant experience. Proficiency in general ledger, reconciliation, month-end processes, and balance sheet management. Experience in journal entry, cash application, cash receipts, and ACH. Familiarity with bank reconciliation and job costing. Experience with Sage 300 or any construction-based ERP is preferred. Understanding of debits and credits with 2+ years of experience. Experience in handling revenue ranging from $500k to $3 million per day. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. 2+ years of Excel experience, including VLOOKUPS and XLOOKUPS. 1+ years of experience in cash receipt posting. 2+ years of bank reconciliation and general ledger experience. 4+ years in accounts receivable. Cost accounting knowledge is a plus. Accounts payable experience is advantageous. Work Environment The position is fully onsite in a corporate building with a cubicle office setting.
