The Junior Accountant will support the Finance Department in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, assisting with reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our Finance Team. This role is essential to ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficient operations that support the mission of our organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred)
  • 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience (nonprofit experience a plus)
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks or similar) and MS Excel
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices (GAAP preferred)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with financial information
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within the role

Responsibilities
  • Record daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable
  • Process invoices, vendor payments, and staff reimbursements
  • Assist with monthly bank, credit card, and account reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger records
  • Support payroll processing and related reporting
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Maintain organized financial documentation (digital and physical)
  • Support audits, budget preparation, and grant reporting as needed
  • Ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with program and administrative staff to track expenses and allocate funds correctly
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager
