POSITION SUMMARY

As the Jr. Buyer, you’ll be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials within assigned portfolio and services as required by company. Additional duties will be to manage vendor relations, and internal customer relations by negotiating, purchasing and expediting materials to ensure supply continuity. Additional responsibilities include assisting the quality department in obtaining documents for supplier and material qualifications.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred; associate’s degree, related certification, training and/or purchasing experience considered in lieu of degree.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience purchasing, preferably within the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical or food industries.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detailed oriented with strong problem solving, presentation, and organization skills; and ability to work efficiently, independently and collaboratively.
  • Must have a proficient understanding of MRP ordering concepts and working knowledge of forecasting, logistics principles (FTL and LTL freight, small package courier services,
  • Strong verbal and written skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with associates at all levels.

Responsibilities
  • Sourcing and purchasing of assigned materials according to MRP requirements.
  • Monitor and track inventoried items.
  • Generate cost savings opportunities, while adhering to internal quality specifications and service demands.
  • Engage in supplier relationship management activities, such as supplier meetings, weekly conference calls, quarterly reviews, etc.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date pricing, lead time, pack size and technical documents.
  • Interfaces with internal customers, QC, QA, PD and suppliers to resolve quality issues, obtain replacement material, root cause and CAPA.
  • Maintains solid working knowledge of essential trends including: industry trends, cost drivers, global pricing, material lead-times and technical manufacturing processes.
