Description Spend the summer at Camp Tracy! Looking for a fun, active summer job where you can build skills, make friends, and make a difference? Join Camp Tracy! In this role, you’ll help lead daily camp activities while supporting children as they grow, learn, and feel confident in a safe and welcoming environment. You’ll be hands-on with swimming, arts and crafts, games, and other camp programs—working alongside experienced staff and learning what it takes to be a positive role model. This is a great opportunity for motivated teens who enjoy working with kids and want a meaningful summer experience. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plan and implement daily curriculum for children to follow. Follow all program procedures and guidelines in accordance with Camp Tracy Day Camp standard operating procedures. Comply with and participate fully in the instruction of swimming, arts and crafts, games, various camp activities, and education programs. Ability to communicate and work with diverse groups (age and skill level) and provide necessary instruction to children. Abilities to observe camper behavior and assess its appropriateness, enforce relevant safety regulations or emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques. Maintains safety, cleanliness, and discipline of children, areas, and equipment. Aid in providing a safe, healthy, and fun experience for campers in the YMCA Day Camp at Camp Tracy Program. Requirements KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: 15-16 years old Work Permit (for 15-year-olds) Clean driver’s license preferred (for 16-year-olds) EXPERIENCE: Some childcare experience is preferred SKILLS & COMPETENCIES: Ability to work with groups of children made up of different ages and skill levels Skills or training in problem solving. Team player Display role model behavior. Organizational skills Attention to details Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently Critical thinking Flexibility WORK SCEHDULE: Seasonal / Monday-Friday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
Responsibilities
Counselors will be responsible for planning and implementing daily curriculum for children while ensuring adherence to all program procedures and guidelines. This includes actively participating in and instructing various camp activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, and games.
