Cobra Aero was established in 2012 for the purpose of creating a safer, more connected world through the precise application of advanced engine technology. We currently supply engines and engine components to a variety of global customers across a range of uses including defense, firefighting, and transportation.
Jr. CAD Designer
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior CAD Designer with hands-on experience in SolidWorks to join our growing design team. In this role, you will support product development and engineering efforts by creating and modifying 2D and 3D models, technical drawings, and documentation in line with company standards and project requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree or certification in Mechanical Design, Drafting Technology, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience using SolidWorks in a professional or academic setting.
  • Strong understanding of drafting principles, GD&T, and mechanical design.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience with PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks PDM).
  • Exposure to sheet metal, injection molding, or other specific manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with other CAD or design tools (AutoCAD, Fusion 360, etc.).
  • Internship or co-op experience in a related field.

Responsibilities
  • Create, update, and maintain 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Assist senior designers and engineers in developing product designs from concept to production.
  • Prepare detailed part and assembly drawings, including dimensions, tolerances, materials, and finishes.
  • Perform revisions and redlines as directed by engineering staff.
  • Support prototype development and collaborate with manufacturing to ensure design feasibility.
  • Maintain organized files and design documentation in accordance with internal standards.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to gather information and resolve design challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in CAD design.
