JOB OVERVIEW

Our construction company, a commercial General Contractor based in Naperville, IL, specializes in federal projects, particularly VA hospitals, across the Chicagoland area. We are seeking a motivated, full-time Junior/Entry-Level Project Manager to support the management of construction projects under the guidance of senior project managers. This role is ideal for individuals looking to grow their career in construction project management with a focus on federal and healthcare projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 0-3 years of experience with a general contracting company (internships or co-op experience in construction is a plus).
  • Interest in federal sector or healthcare construction projects.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites in the Chicagoland area.
  • Basic understanding of preconstruction, post-construction tasks, change orders, or project schedules.
  • Ability to read and comprehend RFIs, project schedules, and other project documents with guidance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Adobe (or willingness to learn).
  • Strong communication skills to interact with office staff, owners, and subcontractors.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation and drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with federal projects, particularly with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Exposure to Davis Bacon-Prevailing Wage or union-required projects.
  • Basic knowledge of construction safety standards (e.g., OSHA 10 or 30 certification).
  • Familiarity with project management software like Procore. Benefits:

Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing project controls, including costs, planning, scheduling, and documentation.
  • Support project startup, management, and close-out processes under supervision.
  • Assist with preparing and tracking Submittals, RFIs, Quality Control (QC) documents, and Punchlists.
  • Help maintain customer and subcontractor relationships.
  • Support accurate scheduling and coordination for job completion.
  • Conduct periodic site visits with senior team members to monitor progress.
  • Assist in enforcing Quality Assurance, Safety, and Quality Control plans.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Manager to ensure projects meet safety standards.
