EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • Experience in accounting or other accounting centric financial analysis role.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting processes in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience driving change and process improvement.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and proficiency in other MS Office applications.
  • CPA or progress on CPA a plus (active or inactive)
  • Public accounting experience a plus
  • Cost accounting and operational accounting experience in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • ERP experience with Sage 100 experience a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE:

Under the leadership of the Corporate Controller, the primary responsibility is to own the accounting functions of a couple business units including month-end close, and inventory control. This role is the primary business partner of the general manager and their team. In addition to business unit responsibilities, this role will be helping the entire corporation with respect to both FP&A and accounting functions learning the entire business and supporting the Corp. Controller & FP&A Manager. This role will be tasked with helping drive the company to its goals and ensure accurate recording of accounting activity through good controls and process management to aid in proper decision making.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage month-end closing process to ensure integrity of financial results in a consistent and timely manner in accordance with US GAAP following internal closing processes.
  • Ensure a strong control environment around financials and cash flow for the business unit especially around inventory control.
  • Improve leveraging of ERP system capabilities to measure and monitor the success of the business more efficiently.
  • Participate in and support annual budgeting and quarterly forecast processes.
  • Actively participate in business reviews with company CEO and CFO to review results monthly and explain key variances to budget, prior year, or other expectations.
  • Analyze and advise on financial decisions of the business unit through cash flow and margin analysis.
  • Proactively interact with supervisors, plant management team as well as senior management to ensure all parties have a clear and accurate picture of the business unit’s overall financial performance. An advisor/mentor on accounting/finance to plant leadership aiding the decision-making process.
  • Monitor the cash position of the business unit in a forward-looking manner and safeguard cash from internal and external risks.
  • Own product costing and related margin understanding from cost movements.
  • Help drive continuous improvement initiatives around process efficiency and cost out opportunities.
  • Oversee commissions programs and other financial planning & analysis efforts around decision support information (business intelligence tools) to help drive good pricing and business decisions.
  • Track price and cost realization throughout all businesses.
  • Support bank and external financial audits or reviews.
  • Ad-hoc projects and analysis / other duties as assigned
  • Travel requirements are minimal not counting occasional driving to local plant sites.
