Description
Full-time On-site – right outside Asheville, NC (Mars Hill, NC) $65,000 – $80,000 + healthcare benefits About Us The Ammortal Chamber brings together multiple scientifically backed technologies into one experience. It is a healing technology that can be utilized by wellness clinics and inside the home. Our clients include specialty spas and clinics, sports teams, and individuals who are biohackers or athletes. We are a small team with a startup culture. After our first full year shipping a finished product on the market, we have shown strong growth. Our team is made up of engineers, health professionals, and startup entrepreneurs. What Is This Role and Why Does It Exist? This role exists to accelerate our prototyping capacity as we expand our product line. As a Jr. Prototype Engineer, you'll work directly with our engineering team to bring concepts from CAD to physical reality—building, testing, and iterating on electromechanical assemblies that become the foundation of our Chamber products. You'll split your time between design work and hands-on fabrication, gaining broad exposure to mechanical systems, PCB integration, and manufacturing processes. This is a growth-oriented position: as you develop your skills, you'll take on increasing ownership and evolve into a full mechatronics or product development role. Responsibilities Prototype Fabrication & Assembly: Building and assembling mechanical and electromechanical prototypes from engineering drawings and CAD models, including sheet metal assemblies, enclosures, and wiring harnesses CAD Support: Creating and modifying mechanical designs in CAD (Inventor, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360), including detail drawings, assembly models, and basic design documentation PCB & Electronics Integration: Assisting with PCB assembly, cable routing, connector installation, and basic electronics troubleshooting under guidance from senior engineers Test & Iteration: Supporting prototype testing, documenting results, identifying issues, and implementing design revisions based on feedback Manufacturing Coordination: Working with our manufacturing partner, Spark Robotics, to deliver prototypes on schedule and communicate design intent Engineering Support: Providing general support to the mechanical and electrical engineering teams—maintaining prototype inventory, organizing documentation, sourcing components, and assisting with builds as needed Technical RequirementsRequired Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience) Proficiency with a CAD package (Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar) Basic understanding of mechanical assembly, fasteners, and tolerances Familiarity with basic electronics concepts (reading schematics, soldering, connector wiring) Comfort with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment 0–2 years of professional or project-based experience in prototyping, fabrication, or engineering Preferred Experience with sheet metal design and fabrication Exposure to PCB assembly or electronics prototyping Familiarity with 3D printing, laser cutting, or other rapid prototyping methods Experience with project management tools (Linear, Asana, or similar) Basic programming or scripting knowledge (Python, C++, or similar) Coursework or project experience in mechatronics or control systems Encouragement to Apply If you love building things and want to grow your engineering skills in a hands-on environment, we want to hear from you. Even if you don't meet every requirement, we value curiosity, craftsmanship, and a willingness to learn. Pay, Location, Hours Pay Range: $65,000 – $80,000 This range reflects candidates with 0–2 years of experience Candidates with stronger hands-on prototyping experience or dual ME/EE skills will be positioned higher in the range Benefits: Healthcare, dental, vision (80% employer-covered) Location: Mars Hill, NC (20 min north of Asheville, NC) Hours: Flexible, goal-oriented schedule, typically 9–5 Monday through Friday
