Description

The Jr. Staff Accountant in Inventory Accounting is responsible for completing data entry, maintaining SAP costing data while ensuring completeness and accuracy as well as supporting the annual standard cost process. Assist in assigned month end closing responsibilities including scheduling and running reports, maintaining access databases, making journal entries, account reconciliations, preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and statements and to ensure appropriate accounting control procedures to close the financial period and support audits of such information and general support in accounting as needed.

Major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties, assignments and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of management.

  • Analyze costing request and seek approval for changes before completing all received and approved changes into SAP while ensuring accuracy in data entry and running weekly audits
  • Assist with annual standard cost roll process (data pulling, create input sheet for review, upload approved changes, maintain database for side-by-side reporting)
  • Perform and own the month-end accounting responsibilities, journal entries and various other balance sheet accounts (data pulling, making journal entries, account reconciliations)
  • Analyze and explain unusual variances in assigned accounts
  • Perform various activities as assigned for both internal and external audits
  • Identify and ensure proper internal controls are in place and assist in internal control testing
  • Perform special projects as requested by management and other job duties as assigned
  • Identify areas of improvements and cost savings and be a proactive advocate of change through analysis of the business processes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business is preferred.
  • One to two years of accounting experience with strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles. Inventory/cost accounting with manufacturing knowledge preferred but not required.
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Excel (advanced formula) and Microsoft Access preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Execute responsibilities with a sense of urgency and follow through
  • Demonstrated abilities to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy
