Position Summary The Junior Underwriting/Funding Specialist provides critical support in the processing, review, and funding of indirect auto loan applications. This is an entry-level role ideal for candidates with strong critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn the fundamentals of consumer lending operations. Under senior staff guidance, this individual will help review applications, validate documentation, and ensure that funded loan packages meet credit union and regulatory standards. Requirements Key Responsibilities Underwriting Support: Assist in the review of indirect auto loan applications to ensure completeness and accuracy. Learn and apply credit union underwriting guidelines and regulatory compliance requirements. Support the calculation and verification of applicant information (income, collateral, DTI/LTV) under supervision. Flag applications requiring additional information or review by senior underwriters. Develop skills in identifying potential fraud indicators through training and mentoring. Funding Support: Review loan packages for completeness and ensure required documentation (insurance, title work, purchase agreements) is present before funding. Verify that approvals match stipulations provided by the underwriter. Communicate with dealer finance managers to request missing or corrected documents professionally. Assist in entering accurate data into the Loan Origination System (LOS) and digital document management platforms. Support the funding process to ensure contracts are processed within required SLAs. General Duties: Maintain organized records in compliance with NCUA and credit union retention policies. Participate in training sessions to build knowledge in underwriting, funding, and compliance standards. Collaborate with team members to meet department performance goals. Uphold Drivata’s service standards when communicating with dealers, partners, and colleagues. Qualifications & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in business, Finance, or related field preferred. No prior lending experience required training provided. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly. High attention to detail and organizational skills. Professional written and verbal communication skills. Comfort with technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn LOS and document management systems. Preferred Attributes Customer service or administrative experience in a financial or retail setting. Exposure to loan or credit-related work through coursework, internships, or prior jobs.
