Title: Junior School Teacher Librarian, Student Life Coordinator, and Teacher Support Department: Junior School Reports to: Junior School Principal Interfaces with: students, teachers, and the entire school community Term of contract: full-time ongoing Start date: August 28, 2026  Salary range: $76,924 to $125,496 Position Profile: The Junior School Teacher Librarian, Student Life Coordinator, and Teacher Support position plays a multi-faceted role in fostering a vibrant, inclusive school culture while leading a dynamic and responsive library learning commons. This position supports student engagement, leadership, and well-being through student life programming, while also advancing literacy, research skills, ATL skills, and a love of reading across the school community. The role blends community-building, event coordination, and student support.  Key Responsibilities Student Learning  * Support students on information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship * Teach research skills, media literacy, and responsible technology use * Support students in selecting high-quality materials for research, pleasure reading, and inquiry projects * Oversee student leadership groups (e.g., student council, assembly leaders, etc.) * Coordinate extracurricular activities, spirit events, and service-learning initiatives * Coordinate with the Senior School Student Life team * Foster a positive, inclusive school climate by promoting belonging, voice, and student agency * Work in classrooms with whole group, small groups and individual students * Teach lessons, support internal coverage, and support the Student Services team  * Work in classrooms with all students, small groups, and individual students using the principles of Universal Design for Learning * Use the strategies in the specialized learning plan to support and manage student learning * Utilize the IEP and/or support plan to implement and prepare lessons to teach through a combination of push-in and pull-out lessons * Collaborate with Junior School coordinators * Additional duties as assigned by the Principal Resources and Development for Teachers * Curate a diverse, inclusive, and current library collection that reflects student interests and curricular needs * Manage digital and print resources, ensuring equitable access for all learners * Cull print resources and curate resources to best align with student learning * Support teachers in integrating library resources, literature, and research strategies into classroom instruction * Collaborate with educators to co-plan and co-teach lessons that enhance literacy and critical thinking Key Dates Awareness, Exhibits & Displays * Coordinate school-wide initiatives that build community and student engagement (e.g., spirit weeks, cultural celebrations, service initiatives) * Promote literacy-related and community-focused dates such as key holidays (Hanukkah, Ramadan, etc.), reading month, and other awareness campaigns * Create engaging library and school displays that promote reading, student achievements, leadership initiatives, and community values * Showcase student work, book recommendations, and student-led projects in the library and common spaces * Collaborate with the Literacy Coordinator Guest Speakers * Organize author visits, illustrators, motivational speakers, and community leaders to enrich student experiences * Coordinate workshops and assemblies that support student leadership, well-being, and engagement * Partner with local libraries and community organizations to enhance programming Strategic Plan Implementation * Help guide implementation of the strategic plan commitments in collaboration with senior leadership Required Qualifications * BC teacher certification * Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Personal Attributes * Ability to maintain library systems, budgeting, circulation, and collection development processes * Strong organizational, communication, administrative and interpersonal skills * The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team Please apply with your letter of interest.
