Description
The 4th/5th Gen Fighter Pilot SME will provide 40 - 60 hours per month of Red Team support to the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) during simulator test mission execution, as well as be responsible for pre-mission planning and post-mission reporting. Responsibilities will also include test plan and test card writing. Location will be at the 445th Test Squadron (TS), Edwards AFB but relocation is not required. *Travel approximately 1 week per month to Edwards AFB will be required. Responsibilities as a JSE/DTTR Pilot – 4th/5th Gen Subject Matter Expert may include: • Provide 40 - 60 hours per month of Red Air Simulated Pilot Support for the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) • Support as 4th/5th Generation Fighter Pilot SME for the Next Gen Threat System (NGTS) team • Supports development of JSE Test Plans and Test Cards for event execution • Supports daily communications with JSE customers/SME's, JSE Development Team representatives, and supporting sub-contractors • Perform as the liaison between military personnel and NGTS Operators • Assist a software development team in developing an advanced synthetic training environment to support military technology, tactics, and training. Apply tactical knowledge to support scenario development for customer training objectives, and test events. • Conduct general subject matter research, analysis, correlation, and assessment • Act as technical liaison to outside organizations • Participate in software test activities Required: • Minimum of 8 years of military tactical aviation experience • Minimum of 3 years experience with 4th/5th Gen systems and operations • Maturity and professionalism to lead the execution of a flight test missions, briefings and interface with a team of discipline engineers in Mission Control Room • Work well in a team environment as well as independently • Experience generating post flight mission reports and other detailed formal reports • Position requires willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customers’ requirements and need Desired: • Minimum of 3 years experience with F-35 or F-22 systems and operations with a focus on Aggressor tactics • Active or recent USAF/USN/USMC 5th Gen platform qualification • Certification as a USAF/USN Weapons Instructor Course, tactics instructor, test pilot school graduate, and/or aviators/operators with specialized qualifications and backgrounds • Prior experience supporting Model and Simulation efforts • Prior experience performing software testing • Prior flight simulator operations experience • Experience supporting Special Access Program (SAP) efforts Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field of study is desired. Master’s degree in STEM desired. Clearance Requirements: Active Secret is acceptable to start. Ability to attain Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and special program access is required. Travel: Approximately 1 week per month (40 – 60 hrs) to Edwards AFB. The pay range for this position in California is $XXX.00/hour to $XXX,.00/hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors.
