Description
The Honorable Linda Bell seeks a highly qualified Judicial Chambers Administrator (JCA) for her chambers in Carson City, Nevada.   The JCA serves as the exclusive confidential assistant to Justice Bell of the Supreme Court of Nevada. The Supreme Court of Nevada is the administrative head of all district, justice and municipal courts and has the authority to promulgate rules and regulations in all civil and criminal court matters relating to process, practice, procedures and appeals that have the force and effect of law. Position Overview The JCA provides advanced legal, administrative, and executive-level support to Justice Bell; supervises chambers staff; manages workflow; prepares and reviews opinions, orders, and correspondence; oversees administrative systems; coordinates meetings and travel; and acts as the primary liaison for internal and external communications. The role requires exceptional organizational ability, superior written and oral communication skills, sound judgment, and the capacity to work discreetly and effectively with judges, court personnel, government officials, and the public.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.  Examples of Duties * Exercise delegated authority and independent judgment in addressing administrative issues affecting chambers and Court operations, ensuring strict confidentiality. * Resolve administrative matters not requiring the Justice’s direct attention and serve as executive liaison among chambers, Court departments, and external stakeholders. * Communicate directives, track assignments, and maintain progress on all chambers tasks. * Coordinate the Justice’s and chambers' schedules to meet deadlines for bench memoranda, opinions, orders, and rehearing matters. * Develop and refine chambers procedures, workflows, and priorities. * Supervise chambers staff, including law clerks, interns, and externs; provide orientation, training, and quality control of all work product. * Review, edit, and proofread all chambers documentation, including draft opinions, orders, dissents, and concurrences. * Manage document control for pending dispositions considered at en banc or panel conferences. * Screen and prioritize calls, correspondence, and visitors, exercising discretion in determining urgent matters and coordinating responses. * Maintain effective working relationships with courts statewide, state agencies, the Legislature, the Bar, the Executive Branch, media, and visiting delegations. * Coordinate the Justice’s calendar, official engagements, and committee obligations; arrange meetings, prepare background materials, and support speech preparation. * Organize Court-related events and receptions as needed. * Arrange complex in-state and out-of-state travel for the Justice and chambers staff and prepare corresponding reimbursement claims. Minimum Qualifications * At least five years of increasingly responsible legal administrative experience, including three years of advanced legal secretarial duties.  * Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. * Strong legal research, editing, and document-management skills are highly preferred. * Ability to exercise discretion, maintain confidentiality, and manage complex, deadline-driven workloads.
