Agency Description The First Judicial District of Pennsylvania (“FJD”) is the Philadelphia County Court System and is composed of two courts: the Court of Common Pleas and the Municipal Court. The FJD is part of the Unified Judicial System reporting in to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. Job Description The FJD is hiring a Judicial Tipstaff I for The Honorable Kay Yu. The Judicial Tipstaff I serves as a personal aide to the assigned member of judiciary in the Civil Trail Division of the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. Important aspects of the job involve assistance to courtroom operations, ensuring dignity is provided in the courtroom and accompanying the appointing judge to all public functions and performing various other duties as assigned. Essential Functions The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all- inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Provides all necessary logistical support for judge’s work in courtrooms. Maintains chambers filing system Manages judicial correspondence and other office paperwork Searches for and studies legal records and documents to obtain data applicable to cases under consideration. Assists judicial law clerks in setting up court matters and file preparation. Legal research and writing projects available to an employee who is interested in receiving those additional assignments.
