Position Summary: The Junior Accountant supports the Fiscal Department in all aspects of accounting operations, with a particular focus on accounts payable and purchasing. Key responsibilities include assisting with daily accounting functions, monthly closings, year-end audits, and financial reporting. This role also serves as a backup to Accounts Payable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience with automated accounting systems required; familiarity with Sage Intacct is preferred.
• Non-profit financial administration experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.
• Comfortable working in a multi-program, collaborative environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both financial and non-financial staff and external partners.
  Hours: 37.5 per week

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Core functions essential to the role:

• Prepare and enter journal entries.
• Perform general ledger account analyses and reconciliations, including bank statement reconciliations.
• Review and approve accounts payable and cash disbursement transactions.
• Assist with month-end closing processes.
• Prepare and distribute periodic financial reports.
• Support preparation for year-end audits, UFR submissions, and tax filings.
• Interact professionally with auditors, banking personnel, and other external stakeholders.
• Act as a backup for Accounts Payable.
• Conduct financial analyses as needed.
• Assist with ad hoc projects and special assignments.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
