As a Junior Accountant with Irving Oil, you will be an integral part of the finance team, contributing to the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting the financial close process with precision and diligence. Your goal will be to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of complex account reconciliations, perform thorough due diligence, and assist with ad hoc financial analysis such as audit support documentation. Your success will be defined by your ability to deliver reliable financial data, collaborate effectively across departments, and uphold the high standards of integrity and excellence.

Your Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly recurring and ad hoc journal entries to support financial reporting
- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate results
- Perform account reconciliations and other control activities to maintain financial integrity
- Contribute to financial statement note disclosures and related documentation
- Support internal and external audit processes through preparation of working papers
- Provide information for tax queries and assist in the tax provision and compliance process
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses to support business decisions and audit requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Treasury, Tax, IT, FP&A, and Commodity Risk
- Execute all responsibilities within a multi-currency environment, ensuring global accuracy
Your Skills
- Strong accounting, reporting, and analytical thinking skills
- High attention to detail with proven ability to multitask in fast-paced environments
- Excellent customer service orientation and client-focused mindset
- Proficient in MS Excel with solid computer and data entry skills; experience with Oracle and Allegro is an asset
- Skilled in issue identification, problem-solving, and committed to continuous process improvement
Your Experience
- Post-secondary degree/certificate in Business with a focus in accounting is required
- 1-2 years of work experience in accounting is required
