JOB DESCRIPTION: JUNIOR ACCOUNTANT

Location: Ripon
Type: Full time, office based
Salary: Up to £25,000, plus study support
We are seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join a dynamic Accountancy Practice on a full-time basis. This office-based role is ideal for candidates looking to develop their career in accountancy, providing opportunities for growth and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and small limited companies.
  • Assist in the preparation of personal, partnership, and corporation tax returns.
  • Undertake bookkeeping tasks and prepare VAT returns.
  • Support senior members of the accounts team on more complex assignments.
  • Receive study support and guidance towards career progression.

Candidate Requirements:

  • 1 - 2 years of experience in an accountancy practice.
  • Ideally studying for the AAT qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience in preparing accounts for both incorporated and unincorporated businesses.
  • Basic understanding of tax principles; additional tax experience is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in software such as SAGE, Xero, QuickBooks, and ideally IRIS.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Conscientious, well-organized, and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
