OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Junior Accountant(Maternity Leave 1yr Contract) to play a key support role within our finance department. In this position, you will assist with day-to-day accounting operations and help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role is perfect for individuals who are starting their accounting career and offers the opportunity to develop skills in areas such as accounts receivable and other essential accounting functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience in a related field (internship experience is welcome)
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Availability to work in the office Monday to Friday
  • Entry level knowledge of QuickBooks is an asset but not mandatory
  • Entry level Bookkeeping experience

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts receivable, prepare invoices, and handle HST filings
  • Collaborate with senior accountants to support month-end and year-end closing processes, as well as audit preparation
  • Communicate with clients and vendors to resolve billing issues and discrepancies
  • Answer incoming calls and assist clients with day-to-day inquiries
  • Provide general administrative support to senior accountants and financial managers as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
