Responsibilities

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for numbers, problem-solving, and making a real impact? At QBE Insurance, we’re looking for curious minds and future-focused thinkers to join our vibrant Actuarial community as a Junior Actuarial Analyst.
This is your chance to kick-start your career with one of Australia’s leading insurers, surrounded by experienced professionals who are passionate about unlocking insights that drive smarter decisions.
Please note: This is not a formal graduate program position. However, if successful, you’ll be welcomed into our Graduate Program cohort, giving you access to tailored learning and development, a supportive peer community, and a calendar of social and networking activities.
Why QBE?
At QBE, we’re asking the right questions to enable a more resilient future – helping those around us build strength and embrace change to their advantage. We’re an international insurer that’s building momentum towards realising our vision of becoming the most consistent and innovative risk partner.
What you’ll do
Depending on your placement in Reserving or Pricing, your day-to-day might include:

In Reserving:

  • Support half-year core reserving activities and financial reporting
  • Help develop and maintain models for claims reserving, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Analyse claims trends and share insights that influence business decisions

In Pricing:

  • Analyse product, segment, and channel profitability
  • Perform risk modelling, premium adequacy assessments, and pricing recommendations
  • Refine rating algorithms and conduct price impact analysis

Across both divisions:

  • Collaborate with teams across claims, finance, and underwriting
  • Write clean, maintainable code for data analysis and modelling
  • Document methodologies and results clearly and concisely
  • Contribute to exciting projects and division-wide initiatives

What we’re looking for

  • A degree in Actuarial Studies, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
  • Progress toward actuarial qualifications (Actuaries Institute or equivalent)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with R, Python, or SQL is a plus
  • Great communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • A genuine eagerness to learn and grow in a dynamic environment

Ready to accelerate your career?
If you’re a recent grad ready to make your mark in the actuarial world, we’d love to hear from you. At QBE, you’ll be supported, challenged, and inspired every step of the way.
