As part of our team, you’ll work on varied projects and products across Space Flight Dynamics (FD), Space Situational Awareness (SSA), Space Traffic Management (STM), and Space Surveillance & Tracking (SST). Your tasks and responsibilities In this role, you will contribute to projects that support Europe’s future space‑safety infrastructure. Your work will include developing and coding key algorithms, integrating data sources, preparing technical documentation, and coordinating project deliverables to meet agency standards. You will work closely with institutional partners, support proposal preparation, and contribute to long‑term programmes that ensure safe and sustainable access to space. If you enjoy complex, multi‑stakeholder projects and creating solutions with real impact on space operations, this role is a great fit. Your profile We don’t expect you to meet every item below. If you are passionate about SSA, astrodynamics, and space safety, please apply — even if you don’t feel “100% ready.” Must‑Have BSc or MSc in Aerospace Engineering, Space Engineering, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related Experience through full-time work, internships, research projects, or thesis work in astrodynamics, SSA/SST, or flight dynamics Basic understanding of orbital mechanics and astrodynamics Ability to write clean, maintainable code in Python, Java, FORTRAN, or a similar language Interest in satellite safety, conjunction assessment, or flight operations Nice‑to‑Have Experience with SST systems, orbit catalogs, mission analysis, sensor data or tracking systems Familiarity with space operations workflows or maneuver planning Curiosity about space policy, standards, and responsible space traffic management Why us? With a lean hierarchy and small working groups, you define your own way of work including flexible work hours. Work on groundbreaking space sustainability challenges with a team of top-tier engineers and scientists. Enjoy technical freedom. Influence system architecture, research methodologies, and data integration approaches. Grow continuously with access to training budgets, industry conferences, and networking opportunities. Be part of a strong engineering culture, with regular knowledge-sharing sessions, technical deep dives, and innovation sprints. Great team spirit, with company-wide events such as social activities like laser tag, dinners, and team-building outings. 30 days of Vacation and Workation Bahncard (25 if you live in Brunswick, 50 if you live outside of the city) Subsidized Hansefit / Wellpass Membership Free Drinks & Snacks in the office (the good ones) Bikeleasing Company Pension Scheme Coporate Benifits (Discount on Brands, Concerts, Holidays) About us OKAPI:Orbits is at the forefront of space sustainability, addressing some of the most pressing challenges of the space industry: the growing problem of crowded orbital regimes, and the need for more efficient satellite operations. We're providing end-to-end solutions that help various space industry players cover their Space Situation Awareness (SSA), and Space Traffic Management and Coordination (STM & STC) needs. We are committed to safeguarding space missions and access to space for all humanity. Join us on our mission. Last but not least, we would like to share with you that research shows that women are less likely to apply for a position unless they meet 100% of the listed requirements. Please know that if it’s your case — but you are passionate about space technology, building reliable software, and contributing to a more sustainable space environment — we strongly encourage you to apply. OKAPI:Orbits already brings together a highly diverse team, and we actively continue to strengthen this diversity which allows us to achieve higher performance and drive innovation.
