Description

About the job

A Hamburg-based logistics firm is currently working with us to modernize how they track shipments and inventory across their supply chain. To support this project, we are adding a Junior Analytics Assistant to our remote team. You will spend your time looking at logistics data, finding errors in old spreadsheets, and helping our developers move that information into structured databases. This is a practical role focused on making sure the data that runs a real business is accurate and accessible.

About Pixel Systems

We are a small, remote software agency that builds the tools teams actually use. We do not do flashy consumer apps or marketing sites. Instead, we focus on the practical stuff: admin panels, CRM integrations, and the database migrations that people usually try to avoid. Our clients come to us when they need to replace a sprawling spreadsheet with a real database or get their different software tools to finally talk to one another.

We believe that working code is better than a perfect plan that never ships. Our approach is straightforward. We provide fixed quotes before we start, we do weekly demos, and we hand over everything when we are finished. We use reliable, well-tested technologies like Node, React, and Postgres because we want the software we build to be stable and easy to maintain. We are a senior team of developers and designers who prefer solving real operational headaches over chasing the latest trends.

The Role

In this position, you will be the bridge between raw data and the tools we build for the logistics client. Most of your work involves cleaning up data, checking for duplicates, and organizing information so it can be used in our dashboards. You will work closely with our senior developers to understand how the client business works. Since we are a remote company, you will manage your own schedule and communicate through documentation and regular check-ins.

Daily tasks include:

  • Reviewing shipping logs to identify missing or inconsistent information.
  • Writing basic SQL queries to pull specific data sets for the development team.
  • Collaborating with our team to map data from legacy systems into our new Postgres databases.
  • Helping to verify that the dashboards we build show the correct inventory numbers.
  • Documenting the steps taken to clean data so the process is repeatable.
  • Communicating findings to the rest of the team through simple, written updates.

What we are looking for

We need someone who is organized and enjoys the process of turning messy information into something structured. You do not need years of professional experience, but you should have a basic understanding of how databases work. We value honesty and clarity over being the smartest person in the room. If you find a mistake in a data set, we want you to tell us plainly and help us figure out how to fix it.

  • A basic understanding of SQL and how data tables relate to one another.
  • Comfortable using spreadsheets to organize and filter information.
  • Strong written communication skills for documentation and team updates.
  • A logical approach to solving problems.
  • The ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
  • A willingness to handle repetitive tasks with high attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of how web applications use data.

Helpful background

While this is an entry level role, it is helpful if you have tinkered with tools like GitHub or tried your hand at writing a bit of code in JavaScript or Python. If you have used Postgres or worked with APIs to pull data from one place to another, that is a plus. Experience with Excel is actually quite useful here, as much of our work involves moving people away from spreadsheets and into better systems. If you have done projects during your studies or in your own time that involved data analysis or basic web development, we would like to hear about them.

Working at Pixel Systems

We are a remote-first team by choice. There is no office to go to, and we do not have layers of middle management. You will work directly with the people building the software. We offer a competitive salary that is attractive for an entry level position in the current market. We focus on getting things done rather than sitting in meetings all day. Because we are a small team, your work has a direct effect on the projects we ship. You will see your data analysis turn into features that help logistics teams manage their cargo more efficiently.

  • We are a group of developers and designers who value stable software and honest communication. We do not do drama or ego. If you enjoy solving practical problems and want to work in an environment where the goal is simply to build tools that work well, you will fit in here.
