ABOUT US

MicroWest Design Ltd. is an industrial automation and controls company based in Prince George, BC, that serves a range of industries across Western Canada and the United States. Whether it’s designing and implementing a controls system from the bottom up, upgrading a mill-wide HMI system, or providing ongoing in-office and on-site support, we pride ourselves on our ability to deliver innovative and user-friendly industrial technological solutions that meet our clients’ unique needs. Our skilled automation and software specialists lie at the heart of our enterprise.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly motivated and self-driven individual to join our team of automation experts. This entry-level position offers applicants an excellent opportunity to work closely with senior electrical and software engineers in an agile small-team environment, while gaining experience in all stages of project development and implementation. Our work is creative rather than conventional and every project is different, making this position both challenging and rewarding. Employees will ultimately be expected, after gaining experience, to not only follow instructions but also produce their own solutions.
The successful applicant will have strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how industrial software and plc programming solutions translate to physical machinery are a must. The willingness to adapt and work independently or collaboratively as needed are also essential. Intermittent travel to job sites will be required. While this role is primarily focused on PLC programming and electrical controls, there will be opportunities to learn and contribute to industrial software projects using C#, WPF, and MySQL
This role is suited to early-career professionals seeking their first role in industrial automation. Comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided. Starting salary will be determined by education, knowledge, and skillset. New employees are subject to a 3-month probationary period, after which performance will be evaluated. Successful completion of the probationary period entitles employees to extended health and dental benefits.
