We are seeking a reliable and hard-working Junior Press Brake and Shear Operator to support our metal fabrication operations. This entry-level position involves assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of press brake and shear machines, as well as general shop duties. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE (ASSETS)

  • Previous experience with press brake and/or shear operation (or mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn)
  • Background in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or construction
  • Comfortable using hand tools, measuring devices, and basic machine controls
  • Forklift certification (preferred)
  • Ability to read shop drawings or fabrication blueprints
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required)
  • Understanding of workplace safety procedures and shop operations

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Eager to learn and grow within a technical trade
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Team-oriented and dependable

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Frequent standing, bending, crouching, and handling of metal sheets
  • Manual dexterity for operating equipment and handling materials
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the setup, operation, and maintenance of press brake and shear machines
  • Cut, bend, and shape metal components according to specifications and work orders
  • Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Read and interpret technical drawings or blueprints to determine machine settings
  • Perform routine machine checks, cleanings, and minor adjustments
  • Support material handling, including loading/unloading sheets and organizing cut parts
  • Follow shop safety procedures and contribute to a clean, organized work area
  • Assist other shop staff with general fabrication or production tasks as needed
