Description
Junior Business Analyst Business Analyst (Data & Analytics) Rotterdam | fulltime | Part of the EMEA Early Careers Talent Program Startdate: 01/09/2026 Avalible in June to meet up with our hiring manager(s), This is an outstanding opportunity to work at the heart of our data‑driven transformation and directly support one of our Business Units. This is a hybrid role, combining both virtual work and our Rotterdam office. About Us Aon is a leading advisor and insurance broker specializing in Risk Capital and Human Capital Solutions in the Netherlands. This position is part of the Data Intelligence Team and is functionally managed from there, while you are dedicated to a specific Business Unit. We value customer interaction and digitalization and foster a hands‑on, entrepreneurial spirit in a collaborative and informal work environment. You will spend the majority of your time working closely with your “home” Business Unit, while staying connected to the central BA community for standards, coaching and best practices. Our tech stack exists of Synapse, Databricks and PowerBI. Your Role As a Business Analyst, you are the key link between the Business Unit and our data & analytics capabilities. You take ownership of the intake and shaping phase: you translate business challenges and ambitions into clear, testable acceptance criteria and value‑driven use cases, and you help to prioritize these together with the business. You ensure that both business and engineering teams know exactly what needs to be delivered and why. You will spend the majority of your time working closely with your “home” Business Unit, while staying connected to the central BA community for standards, coaching and best practices. This excites and energizes you: Intake & Discovery Engage with stakeholders in your Business Unit to understand problems, opportunities and strategic goals. Take the lead in structuring, clarifying and prioritizing incoming demands from your business unit for data and analytics and align cross business unit priorities with the product owner of the team. Requirements & Acceptance Criteria (Ownership) Translate business questions into clear problem statements, user stories and concrete, testable acceptance criteria in business language. Testable acceptance criteria cultivates test-driven development. Own the quality of these requirements so data engineers and data scientists can deliver without endless clarification loops. Value‑Driven Use Cases Work with stakeholders to define expected value, success metrics and benefits for each initiative, and help track whether these are realized. Make sure that what enters the pipeline is impactful and aligned with BU and firm‑wide priorities. Process & Data Understanding Analyze processes, data flows and data quality issues and identify improvements that enable better decision‑making and automation. Bridge Between Business and Tech Act as the day‑to‑day “bridge” between your Business Unit and the Data Intelligence team. Explain business context and priorities to engineering teams (largely non‑Dutch‑speaking) and translate technical constraints and options back to the business. You may solve a complex profitability question by understanding the Business Unit’s products, processes and data architecture, after which you define the right KPIs and data model in Azure/Databricks and validate the results using SQL and DAX. Collaboration Partner closely with the Data Intelligence team (Product Owner, Data Engineers, Data Architect, Governance Lead) to ensure solutions are feasible, scalable and compliant. Change & Adoption Support business stakeholders in testing, training and adoption of new dashboards, data products and AI solutions, so that value is actually realized. Community & Standards Actively participate in the central BA community to share best practices, improve ways of working and ensure alignment across Business Units. This is who you are You enjoy working with both people and data and you are able to switch easily between high‑level business discussions and detailed analysis. You are comfortable taking ownership of the intake and requirements process and challenging stakeholders where needed. Are you the one? Aspiration to be a Business Analyst, Product Owner, Consultant or similar role, preferably in a data, analytics or digital context. Strong analytical skills and the ability to structure complex problems and break them into solvable chunks. Experience with requirements gathering, process analysis and writing user stories, functional specifications and acceptance criteria. Affinity with data, reporting and/or analytics tools (e.g. Power BI, SQL, Synapse, Databricks) is a plus. Good communication skills in English and Dutch; able to interact confidently with stakeholders at different levels. Be able to switch easily between high level business problems and granular technical details. Experience working in cross‑functional teams (business, IT, data) in an agile or iterative way. A proactive, curious mindset and a drive to continuously improve processes and ways of working. Not hesitant to challenge the status quo, ask proactive questions, present results and take accountability, both internally and externally. Please reach out to our Talent Aqcuisition Business Partner (Early Careers); Dis Grotzinger via LinkedIn or per e-mail: dis.grotzinger@aon.com. Thanks so much for taking an interest in Aon, our Early Careers Talent Program, Ayoung and the world of insurance & Risk management. Are you the one? 2026-100682
