JOB DESCRIPTION

Section: Corporate Security Services
Division: Corporate Security and By-Law Services
Department: Corporate Services
Initial Reporting Location: Tom Davies Square
Job Status: Limited Position
Estimated Probable Duration: Up to Seven (7) Months
Affiliation: Inside Unit
Hours of Work: 70 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: Some evenings and weekends
Range of Pay: Group 11 - $30.86 to $38.35 per hour

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of secondary school (grade XII) education plus short, specialized courses in law enforcement (e.g., Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers (OAPSO), Municipal Law Enforcement Officer (MLEO), etc.).
  • Over one (1) year up to and including two and one-half (2½) years of directly related municipal or police law enforcement experience.
  • Demonstrate ability related to computer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment (i.e., file maintenance, word processing, spreadsheet applications, information input and retrieval).
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and related regulations.
  • Knowledge of applicable by-laws and court room procedures.
  • Demonstrate organizational, analytical, and administrative skills and ability to exercise judgement in procedures and methods used.
  • Ability to demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • French verbal and written skills an asset.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance, and former employment history.
  • Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s licence, have an acceptable driving record, and personal insurance coverage.
