Key Role & Responsibilities

Accumark is seeking a detail-oriented Junior CAD/Survey Technician to support our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) and survey teams. This entry-level position is ideal for those starting a career in civil drafting and utility mapping. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing field-collected data, drafting utility maps, and assisting in the production of CAD deliverables.

  • Willingness to learn and apply ASCE Standards 38-02, 38-22, and 38-75
  • Import and process raw survey data from total stations, GPS, and utility locating equipment
  • Draft base maps using field notes, field sketches, and processed survey raw data
  • Prepare and update 2D utility plans, including water, gas, electric, and telecom features, as well as gravity storm and sewer systems
  • Prepare Test Hole reports while comparing field results with previous designating efforts
  • Review utility records for quality assurance of survey deliverables
  • Assist with compiling survey deliverables such as DGN/DWG files, PDF exhibits, and PDF reports
  • Maintain layer standards and file organization based on company and client guidelines
  • Perform quality checks for missing or misaligned survey linework and features
  • Coordinate with field crews to resolve data gaps or clarifications
  • Support SUE operations by integrating LiDAR data from manholes and overhead wires into utility basemaps
  • Tag and organize utility structure photos, attribute tables, and records
  • Field survey experience a plus
  • Prior SUE experience a plus
  • Comfortable working independently and as a part of a collaborative team

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in CAD or survey support roles
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Carlson Survey, and Civil 3D
  • Familiarity with MicroStation (V8i or ORD) is a plus
  • Understanding of basic coordinate geometry and survey workflows
  • Ability to interpret utility markings, codes, and attribute data
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior survey field experience
  • Previous involvement in SUE or utility mapping projects
  • Comfort working both independently and within a collaborative team
