SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proficiency in 2D CAD software (AutoCAD, DraftSight, or similar).
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles and fabrication methods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to drafting.
  • Organised, proactive, and eager to learn.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with production teams.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment is a plus.
  • Interest in specialist vehicles, automotive systems, or fabrication work would be advantageous.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking a Junior CAD Technician to join our design team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a full-time position, with the potential to be extended or made permanent, depending on performance and ongoing business requirements.
In this full-time role, you will support our workshop team by producing 2D CAD drawings for the fabrication and assembly of our bespoke road marking vehicles. You will also help maintain the drawing archive, contribute to manufacturing efficiency, and work closely with our workshop team to improve existing designs and develop new customer-driven solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their CAD skills in a hands-on, real-world engineering environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create accurate 2D CAD drawings for vehicle fabrication and assembly.
  • Maintain and update the technical drawing archive.
  • Collaborate with workshop teams to refine and improve existing designs.
  • Assist in developing new designs, translating concepts into drawings.
  • Support design-for-manufacture improvements to streamline production.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with internal and industry standards.
  • Participate in team reviews and contribute to design and process improvements
