As our Junior Capital Accountant, you will be responsible for focusing on capital projects and all associated financials, including variance analysis, reporting and all financial entries. This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta.

A Day in The Life:
- Working closely with Project Managers to assist in tracking, analyzing, and reporting on project status and financial health
- Work with the Project Management & Finance teams to maintain and generate project reports as required
- Manage and analyze the reporting for all capital projects to ensure projects are reported accurately and discrepancies are managed, while reporting back to the management team on a regular basis
- Identifying and contributing to the ongoing development of systems and processes to enhance reporting, capital management and planning capabilities
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are being followed and analyzing the process for accuracy
- Month end Capital related entries moving costs from AUC (Asset under construction) to fixed assets
- Ensure all change management processes are followed, tracked, and reported on
- Play a key role in the project lifecycle from start-up, construction through close-out, specifically gathering information from project managers relating to time frame of completion, outstanding invoices and general project updates
- Fixed asset disposal/acquisition for the Midstream Infrastructure division. Including entries for depreciation, gain & loss, and acquisition of new trucks and equipment
- Yearly SOX internal controls testing – Gap identification and analysis on current processes
- Responsible for monthly PST working paper for month end self-assessment for all BC and SK projects. Ensuring we are correctly recording and paying PST
- AP invoice posting for all engineering and construction projects, correcting any budget errors, category errors & finished project errors
- Provide coverage for project creation and circulation for approvals for new projects when required to do so
- Report generation through BI dashboard
- AFE sheet maintenance, linking SQL formulas, providing access and troubleshooting any problems
- Processing daily GL to GL workflows, PM name changes, & Capitalization workflows
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
- 2 - 5 years’ experience in a related role
- Post-secondary education is considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems and suggest workable solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines with multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics AX and related reporting tools is an asset
- Proficient with MS Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Ability to work both independently and in a team atmosphere
