This is an exciting opportunity for motivated individuals, interested in Gynaecological Oncology to join a reputable and established team of clinicians and researchers. Based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead, the Northern Gynaecological Oncology Centre (NGOC) offers a broad range of surgery, and is famed for its ultra-radical surgical repertoire, and early adoption of innovation. It is a European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO) accredited Centre of Excellence for Ovarian Cancer.
This post is for 12 months which may be extended to a longer period, subject to clinical needs and availability of funding. The successful applicant will gain experience in managing complex oncological and surgical patients. They will be given the opportunity to be involved in clinical research projects and audits.
It is expected that shortlisted candidates will be interviewed on the 18 th of July 2025.
The post holder’s clinical duties will be based on our in-patient surgical ward, outpatient clinics and operating theatre. The work on the surgical ward encompasses arranging investigations, selecting appropriate treatment and providing peri-operative care. This includes consultations on Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) for review of gynaecological oncology patients who need to be seen in a (semi-)urgent timeframe. The post holder will require excellent communication skills to work on this ward providing care to patients with a wide range of disease presentations. Communication, team working and organizational skills are paramount in the care of our patients. The post holder will be required to demonstrate an awareness of the limitations of their practice.
The post holder will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of outpatient clinics which include new and follow-up gynaecological oncology clinics, colposcopy clinics and vulva clinics. They will be able to assist in operating theatre and will have the opportunity to develop surgical skills.

We are looking for one Clinical Fellow (CF) who is keen to work in gynaecological oncology. Clinical duties will be based within the Northern Gynaecological Oncology Centre which is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead, a busy dedicated gynaecological oncology tertiary centre with 14 operating lists per week. The post of Clinical Fellow is advertised for a fixed term period of 12 months which may be extended to a longer period, subject to clinical needs and availability of funding.

THE NORTHERN GYNAECOLOGICAL ONCOLOGY CENTRE (NGOC)

The Northern Gynaecological Oncology Centre (NGOC) was founded in 1948 and is based in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. The NGOC is a tertiary referral centre for the Northern Deanery/North East & North Cumbria Cancer Network, with a catchment population of 2.5 million. Recently, with reconfiguration of regional services, the NGOC has been named Lead Provider of tertiary gynaecological oncology care for women within this whole region.
The department of Gynaecological Oncology at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital has an international reputation, and attracts fellows and trainees from the UK and abroad. The NGOC provides the Integrated Cancer Centre Service to the Northern Cancer Network.
