An exciting opportunity has arisen for a resident doctor (CT/IMT level) to undertake a 12 month fellowship in oncology. The post-holder will work on our Acute Oncology and Haematology Assessment Unit (AOHAU) which is currently open 8am-8pm Monday-Friday. They will see oncological emergencies and help to manage toxicities from systemic anti-cancer therapies. This role is suited for doctors with an interest in higher oncology training, future GP trainees and medical trainees. As 1 in 2 will develop cancer in their lifetime experience in managing the toxicities of treatment is an invaluable part of any career path.
This post is aimed at CT1 level doctor. The post will start as soon as possible on a fixed term basis for 12 months. The post-holder will have the opportunity to gain experience in oncology that is similar to other junior posts in oncology. We encourage uptake of training opportunities and will support relevant courses for the candidate’s education and training needs.
The post will be based in the South West Wales Cancer Centre, Swansea. The role will be supporting the Acute Oncology Haematology Assessment Unit
Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot.
