The duties of the post include day-to-day care of cancer patients on the inpatient ward, acute oncology assessment unit and other ambulatory care services at Velindre Cancer Centre. You will work with other junior/senior staff within the multidisciplinary cancer team, including Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Therapists and Radiographers.

This post is fixed term for 6 months due to funding.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
You will be primarily based on the oncology inpatient ward, but the role will also involve reviewing patients who present to the Cancer Centre unwell requiring assessment, treatment and triage for admission. The ward also cares for patients requiring admission for inpatient chemotherapy or radio-isotope therapy, complications relating to their cancer or their anti-cancer treatment. Velindre Cancer Centre takes direct admissions from home as well as transfers from other hospitals, e.g. for emergency radiotherapy for metastatic spinal cord compression.
This role would suit a doctor who is looking to gain experience prior to applying for internal medicine or specialty training in oncology or palliative medicine.
