JOB SUMMARY:

Onco, Inc is a leader in cancer registry solutions, dedicated to providing top-tier software and support to healthcare professionals. We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Conversion Specialist to support the migration of oncology registry and navigation data from client legacy systems into ONCO’s software platforms. Working closely with the Client Services and Engineering teams, you will play a critical role in ensuring high-quality data conversion, minimal disruption to clients, and smooth implementation experiences.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Foundational knowledge of SQL and relational database structures.
  • Familiarity with data extraction and transformation principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and quality.
  • Proactive communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn healthcare/oncology data standards and registry workflows.
  • Ability to manage time effectively across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to maintain comprehensive documentation.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Entry-level to 2 years of experience in data migration, ETL, or healthcare IT.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with healthcare or oncology-related data systems is a plus.
  • Exposure to ETL platforms such as Talend, SSIS, or custom scripts is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of data compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Interest in long-term growth within healthcare technology or oncology informatics.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from legacy oncology systems with a target of 95%+ field mapping accuracy during QA reviews.
  • Meet expectations regarding simultaneous client migrations as set by leadership, using industry-standard ETL tools and ONCO’s internal systems.
  • Perform rigorous data validation before and after migration, maintaining a <5% data discrepancy rate across all mapped fields.
  • Ensure 100% submission of migration documentation and audit logs within 48 hours of key project milestones.
  • Partner with senior conversion specialists on complex projects, actively incorporating feedback to improve future performance.
  • Work with Engineering and Client Services to troubleshoot issues and refine conversion workflows.
  • Provide clear, concise updates through weekly status reports, maintaining full compliance with internal reporting expectations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for data-related inquiries from internal stakeholders.
  • Develop a strong understanding of oncology data standards, such as NAACCR and CoC accreditation requirements.
  • Stay up to date on ONCO’s data systems, client workflows, and healthcare data trends to continuously improve conversion quality.
