Job Summary Zen Strategics is looking for a Junior Cybersecurity Engineer to assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure for a Federal Client. This entry-level role involves monitoring security systems, analyzing vulnerabilities, supporting incident response, and maintaining security tools. The ideal for candidates for this position will possess foundational knowledge in networking, operating systems, and cybersecurity principles. The Junior Cybersecurity Engineer will communicate with more senior engineers in completing tasks and reporting issues as well as assisting in troubleshooting and security related activities. The ideal candidate should be dedicated to continuous learning and staying current with Cybersecurity technologies and practices. Requirements Responsibilities The Junior Cybersecurity Engineer will support the design, implementation, and maintenance of cybersecurity infrastructure across classified and unclassified networks. Assist in deploying and managing security tools and technologies under supervision. - Designing, implementing, and maintaining security infrastructure and support vulnerability scanning and patch management. - Deploying security tools and technologies. - Troubleshooting cybersecurity issues. - Strong understanding of network and system security. - Proficiency in scripting and automation. - Assist in monitoring and analyzing security events and alerts from various sources (SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, etc.) - Help maintain and update security tools, policies, and documentation - Respond to basic security incidents and escalate complex issues to senior engineers - Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices Required Qualifications Clearance: Top Secret Required Years of Experience: 2+ Years Education: Bachelor's Degree (BS/BA) in Computer Science or related field. Certifications: Required: None Preferred: Comptia Security +, CISSP
