Sharp Ideas in Mining (SIIM) is a small mining consultancy firm supplying technical support to the mining industry.

The Opportunity

We are hiring one junior Data & AI Analyst for our Vancouver team. This is an earlycareer development role. The main draw is close mentorship from the founders and handson exposure to mining terminology, complex problem spaces, and productiongrade software development. If you have solid Python and data skills and want to grow them quick on real problems, this is a good place to do it.

You will learn our stack and our problem space as you go. We want someone with instincts about data, who can look at a dataset and tell which numbers look wrong and which questions it can answer. The requirements below are firm, and we would rather hold the role open than fill it with someone who does not meet them.

What You'll Do

- Help design, implement, and refine mining cost models that feed our core computational engine.

- Extract, clean, and analyze complex mining datasets using Python, PostgreSQL, Excel, and AI/LLM querying.

- Turn experimental analyses into repeatable, documented, productionquality workflows.

- Apply statistics and data modeling to reason about complex datasets and communicate findings clearly.

- Build charts, dashboards, and visualizations that make the data legible to founders and clients.

- Contribute to general engineering and operational tasks, and help maintain sound development workflows.
