We combine expertise in Data Engineering, Data Analysis, and Data Management to deliver high‑quality data pipelines, insightful reporting, and strong governance frameworks, working closely with business teams across Europe. The Role The Junior Data Analyst for the Europe Data Team interprets business requirements and evaluates data across the European analytics platform, built on Microsoft Azure and Databricks. The role delivers actionable insights, identifies improvements, and supports new analytical developments while maintaining existing commitments in line with the Hiscox Data Strategy. Working with technical teams, the Junior Data Analyst helps design solutions that provide accurate, reliable information for functions such as Sales, Underwriting, and Finance, using tools like Power BI. This position offers hands‑on involvement in Europe’s data transformation, contributing to daily analysis and the development of future data capabilities. Key Responsibilities Business & Data Analysis Analyse and document business requirements with guidance to support reporting and analytical needs; Perform basic data analysis and discovery to validate data quality, identify gaps, and support decision making; Extract and prepare data for ad hoc business requests; Monitor analytical outputs to help ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business expectations. Data Modelling & Mapping Assist in data modelling and mapping activities, helping ensure business rules are correctly defined and implemented; Analyse data from various systems to support the mapping processes feeding the European Data Platform. Reporting & Visualisation (Power BI) Support the design and development of Power BI dashboards and reports that deliver clear insights; Help build and maintain data models, relationships, and calculations within Power BI; Apply foundational data visualisation best practices to create simple, effective dashboards. Collaboration & Solution Design Work with data engineers and business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into practical technical solutions. Skills Technical Skills Basic understanding of data mappings and business intelligence concepts; Experience in SQL for querying and manipulating data; Experience with Microsoft Business Intelligence and Analytics tools (Databricks, Azure Synapse, Power BI). Functional Skills Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements; Clear communication skills, able to explain insights to non‑technical stakeholders; Experience in Business Intelligence or Data & Analytics roles (1-2 years) is a plus; Experience in functional analysis, ideally within the insurance industry. Education & Languages Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field; Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
