PSA Halifax is recruiting for a Junior Data Analyst.
We are looking for candidates who have the skill, energy, attitude and curiosity to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations at all times through careful planning and management of available resources.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a highly successful and leading container terminal in the East Coast of Canada. Data Analyst Key Deliverables:

  • Manage our master data set developing reports and troubleshooting data issues.
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports
  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
  • Acquire data from primary and/or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems
  • Prioritize business and information needs
  • Locate and define new process improvement opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Experience as a data analyst, and a deep understanding of the popular data analysis tools and database
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects), databases (SQL), programming/using ETL frameworks and languages
  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
