E-Logic is seeking for a Junior Data Engineer to strengthen the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) data integration and management capabilities. This role supports the development of pipelines, ETL processes, and database automation that enable DOT to leverage high-quality data for analytics, compliance, and mission operations. By assisting senior engineers and DBAs, this position contributes to building secure, efficient, and scalable data solutions in both on-premise and cloud environments.

SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 13 years of experience with SQL development and database fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
  • Basic understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling concepts.
  • Experience writing stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Familiarity with database performance concepts like indexing and query optimization.
  • Experience building ETL processes and data pipelines using tools such as Python, SQL, or ETL platforms (Glue, Step Functions, Lambda).
  • Understanding of data integration patterns and best practices.
  • Familiarity with data transformation and validation techniques.
  • Experience with AWS services, particularly RDS, EC2, Glue, Step Functions, and Lambda.
  • Amazon Redshift experience preferred for data warehousing workloads.
  • Understanding of cloud database deployment and management concepts.
  • Basic knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD principles.
  • Basic knowledge of data management concepts and data cataloging tools.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with database schema design and data modeling.
  • Develop stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database objects.
  • Build data integration solutions, including ETL processes and data pipelines.
  • Implement database automation tools and CI/CD processes.
  • Create and optimize database APIs and data access layers.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation for database solutions.
  • Monitor integration performance and assist with query optimization.
  • Implement indexing strategies and partitioning under supervision.
  • Support performance testing and analysis efforts.
  • Help develop monitoring dashboards and reporting solutions.
  • Support database migration and upgrade projects.
  • Assist with data quality validation and testing processes.
  • Help implement data archiving and retention procedures.
  • Support backup/recovery testing activities and data cataloging efforts.
  • Participate in validation activities for new features or changes.
  • Implement database security controls following established policies.
  • Assist with FISMA compliance documentation and audit preparation.
  • Support data masking, encryption, and security monitoring processes.
  • Work with cloud platforms including RedShift, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.
  • Support CI/CD and database automation efforts.
  • Collaborate with development teams and support business users with data requirements.
