JOB SUMMARY:

The Junior Data Engineer is responsible for database management, maintaining SQL, visualizations, scripting, programming and building models for data driven solutions. The Junior Data Engineer will need to respond quickly and accurately to ad hoc data requests.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to work a flexible hybrid (mix of at home, in office and onsite) schedule, including Saturdays, when needed.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer.
  • Familiarity in all versions of SQL and experience with structured and unstructured database systems.
  • Experience with data architecture, data modeling, schema design, and ETL development.
  • Strong scripting and programming skills with experience in Python, PowerShell, etc.
  • Proficient in C#, VB.Net, JavaScript, jQuery, and Crystal Reports.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience:

  • Behavioral Health experience.
  • Experience working with diverse teams.
  • Two years minimum, or equivalent experience in Cloud Infrastructure and systems integration.

Academic Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, IT or related field, Master’s degree preferred.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Maintain all NJPN issued equipment in good working order, requesting IT support as needed.
  • Adherence to NJPN policies is expected.
  • Assisting with annual conference and other agency-wide events as needed.
  • Travel as required for meetings, events and conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Subject to possible prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with department leaders to develop and refine data collection instruments and improve data systems and processes.
  • Consult with NJPN’s Data Engineer Consultant to create database mapping and ensure consistent integration of database development.
  • Develop, maintain, and test infrastructures for data generation.
  • Design and develop database systems, ensuring high levels of performance and security.
  • Transform data into a format that can be easily analyzed and develop dashboards for data visualization.
  • Perform complex data extraction, storage, manipulation and analysis.
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture using scripting/programming languages like Python and PowerShell.
  • Create API’s and effectively integrate them.
  • Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Prepare routine reports and presentations of program performance with data graphs/service trends; Clearly communicate (oral and written) results of analyses to program staff/leadership and other non-technical audiences.
