Website: www.vitol.com Job Description In this accounting role you will work both on financial and business-related control activities and in general on accounting tasks. As a key focal point, you will work closely together with various colleagues in the Netherlands and abroad, including the Front (trading) and Back/Mid Office teams (operations, treasury and accounting). For training purposes and meetings, you will occasionally travel abroad (short business trips within Europe). In this challenging and broad position, you will be responsible for financial (including the responsibility for the month-end closing for a number of product groups) and operational analysis of the trade Profit & Loss (P&L) of commodities in which Vitol trades on a daily basis. These include a wide variety of commodities such as crude oil, distillates, LPG, natural gas and oil related products, but also renewables, carbon, carbon capture and storage, EVs, biogas and hydrogen. The main responsibilities are: Research and analyse records in order to answer questions from the business and resolve issues Perform various accounting activities around the Trade P&L, including analytical review of balance sheet and P&L trade related accounts, reconciliation and month end closing Ensure transactions are recorded, documented, reviewed and supported in accordance with Vitol policies and controls Prepare for and participate in annual audits and financial reporting (IFRS, statutory accounts and management accounts) In the mid-term you will also be involved to: Help the business in decision making by providing them with meaningful analyses (forex exposure, mass balance controls, cost controls) Support with various IT improvement processes Qualifications Qualifications You hold as a minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Management Accounting, Accountancy or Business Administration (Bedrijfseconomie) 1 – 2 years of experience Advanced level of Microsoft excel A good command of the Dutch language and English is a must Competences Analytical skills Proactive and problem solving Follow process and procedures Very good organizational skills Manage and assess risks Working proactively and independently Able to work under pressure Personal Characteristics Deal accounting, helping in all the matrixes, helping different people and tasks Can-do-mentality Appreciates a more horizontal growth path rather than a vertical one given the flat/meritocratic organisational structure we have in the Group Recognises the importance of IT in an organisation like Vitol, has affinity and the willingness to deepen and improve IT driven processes Ability to build and maintain effective relationships Capable of prioritising tasks managing multiple and potentially conflicting priorities Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines Willingness and eagerness to learn new skills Solution and results oriented Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing Additional Information Vitol is an international company with offices across all continents You will work in a flat and approachable organization We are a great place to work.
