Description Christianity Today (CT) is seeking a thoughtful, versatile Junior Designer to join our creative team. This early-career role offers the opportunity to develop your design skills while contributing to high-impact work across print, digital, editorial, and marketing platforms. The ideal candidate combines a strong design sensibility with a deep commitment to our mission: to serve the church and advance the gospel by seeking first the kingdom of God. As a Junior Designer, you'll assist in creating materials that reflect the beauty, clarity, and integrity of that mission—from magazine layouts and donor communications to social media graphics, marketing campaigns, and editorial illustration. Functions and Responsibilities Collaborate with and support creative team members in delivering polished, effective design ministry-wide Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute ideas to creative concepts Execute design for visual assets across print and digital platforms Prepare production-ready files for print or web, ensuring technical accuracy Support photo editing, retouching, and asset management as needed Stay up to date with design trends, tools, and best practices Receive and apply constructive feedback to improve design work Perform additional job-related duties as assigned 1. Editorial Design Assist with the creation of our flagship and special issues by supporting print layout and production needs, working in templates, managing styles, and preparing files for print Prepare or create artwork for online use in the print-to-digital migration process Create graphics and visual assets for social media and the website, including light illustration and collage or motion graphics Assist creative leads with assigning illustration and photography 2. Marketing + Brand Design Design printed collateral such as donor letters, event materials, postcards, and reports Create graphics and visual assets for social media, email campaigns, and the website Support visual branding and promotion of our podcast and web articles Design digital ads, presentation decks, and fundraising materials 3. Creative Support & Collaboration Contribute to creative brainstorms and editorial planning meetings Assist with image research, basic photo editing, and occasional editorial illustration Prepare and package files for internal use or external vendors Help maintain brand consistency across all visual communication Create or update slide decks for various departments Requirements 1-2 years of experience in a design role Experience with motion graphics, photography, or illustration is preferred Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); familiarity with Figma, Canva, or similar tools is a plus Strong understanding of design principles including layout, color, typography, and composition Interest in photography, podcast graphics, or basic video editing Knowledge of HTML/CSS basics or web design principles is preferred Familiarity with print production processes is preferred A portfolio that demonstrates creative thinking and a strong design aesthetic Ability to apply foundational design principles to executing on a strong, established brand identity Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines Excellent communication and a strong team-player mindset A willingness to learn, take initiative, and demonstrate a growth mindset in a fast-paced environment Employment Details CT headquarters are located in Wheaton, Illinois Work Location: Remote Type: Full time, 37.5 hour workweek Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt FLSA status Benefits: CT offers a comprehensive benefits package - check out our careers page to learn more Exact compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location.
