DESCRIPTION

Trafalgar Engineering has an immediate opening for the full-time position of a junior designer/Engineer-in-Training (EIT). Responsibilities are outlined in further detail below, but generally include the design of stormwater management facilities, storm and sanitary sewers, watermains, grading, and hydrologic and hydraulic analyses. As a successful candidate, you must be dedicated to providing quality service to protect the interests of the public and the client. QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Water Resources Engineering.
  • Eligibility for registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) as an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) is required.
  • Must be proactive and eager to grow and develop in their engineering role.
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to oversee multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work in both an office environment and in the field with flexibility for construction hours as needed
  • Must possess a valid Class G Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract and have access to a vehicle.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

· Assist in the preparation of Functional Servicing and Stormwater Management Reports, stormwater management, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and watermain designs.
· Assist in the preparation of grading and servicing designs for land development projects.
· Assist in the preparation of hydrologic and hydraulic calculations to support the preparation of Flood Studies utilizing HEC-RAS and SWMM.
· Prepare supporting calculations and documentation.
· Assist in the preparation of design drawings utilizing AutoCAD.
· Assist in the preparation of submission packages to various agencies in support of approvals.
· Assist in contract administration duties including the preparation of tender, contract, and related documents including payment certificates and progress reports.

· Undertake earthworks calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D and perform quantity takeoffs.

  • Assist in the preparation of Opinions of Probable Cost.

· Assist in field review and monitoring to ensure conformity with the contract documents, plans, specifications, and regulations.

  • Assist in the preparation of construction record drawings based on field observations.
  • Set up and facilitate, or attend project meetings with clients, design staff, and/or municipal/agency approval staff, complete with the preparation and dissemination of minutes, notes, or memoranda.
  • Liaise with client, design staff, contractors, and/or municipal/agency approval staff.
  • Other duties as required.
