QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
• Experience: 1-3 years in interior design, ideally with a focus on residential projects, Millwork Design, space planning, and Materials coordination.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite for design documentation and presentations.
• Knowledge: Strong foundation in design principles, space planning, and an understanding of Ontario building regulations.
• Soft Skills: Effective communicator, detail-oriented, organized, and adept at balancing multiple projects.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• A portfolio showcasing relevant design work is essential.
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to meet project demands.

ROLE SUMMARY:

We are seeking a creative and motivated Junior Designer who shares our passion for transforming residential spaces with high-quality, enduring designs. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to diverse projects, from custom builds to renovations and garden suites, supporting both aesthetic and functional goals. The ideal candidate will have experience in residential design and an eye for detail, able to produce technical and creative solutions that meet client expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design Development: Collaborate with our design, sales, and construction teams to develop design concepts that align with Norseman’s standards and client goals, ensuring functional, attractive, and high-quality results.
• Technical Drafting: Prepare and adjust detailed AutoCAD floor plans, elevations, and technical drawings as needed to guide project construction.
• 3D Visualizations: Use SketchUp to create 3D models and renderings that effectively convey design concepts and client solutions.
• Material and Finish Selection: Research and recommend materials, furnishings, and finishes to fit each project’s scope, style, and budget.
• Client Consultation: Actively participate in client meetings, gather feedback, and present design proposals that are both responsive and innovative.
• Collaboration and Coordination: Partner closely with architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive and efficient project management.
• Project Management Support: Help monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring all phases are on schedule and within Norseman’s standards of quality.
• Site Visits: Conduct periodic site assessments to oversee design implementation and address any emerging design considerations.
