POSITION OVERVIEW

Calian is seeking a Junior Rapid eLearning Programmer to support our client within the Department of National Defence (DND). This is a full-time contract opportunity.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • As a minimum, a secondary school diploma
  • Developed at least 3 SCORM Learning courses over the past 2 years using rapid learning tools, as specified by the client, such as: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Contribute, HTML, CSS, Adobe Flash, Techsmith, Articulate 360
  • Experience using software for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)/Royal Canadian Air Forces (RCAF) Distributed Synthetic Training (DST) in at least two (2) of the following: Mission Support System (MSS), MAK VR Forces, Virtual BattleSpace (VBS)
  • Experience working on scenario development of Distributed Synthetic Training (DST), incorporating information from Decisive Action Training Environment (DATE) OR Digital Terrain and Elevation Data (DTED) exercise scenario development databases.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must currently hold, or be eligible to obtain, a Government of Canada Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be a Canadian citizen.
  • Ability to work on-site.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the Virtualisation Simulation (VSIM) Lab Technical Manager, ensuring the lab is fully operational for visits, demonstrations, and activities managed by DSOC and E&S Branch personnel.
  • Conduct start-up sequences for VSIM equipment, verifying readiness before scheduled events.
  • Maintain up-to-date software versions on all VSIM Lab computer systems and peripherals.
  • Program, integrate, and configure peripheral simulation equipment (e.g., VR headsets) and corresponding software for demonstrations, experimentation, and training.
  • Document all work products, correspondence, supporting materials, and other outputs in accordance with Branch IM policies.
  • Provide regular updates on VSIM Lab training activities and demonstrations during DSOC Sync meetings.
  • Train and advise DSOC team members in the use of MAK VR and CGF software, including conducting equipment demonstrations.
  • Provide guidance on synthetic aspects of wargaming, including use of Command Professional Edition (PE) software.
  • Serve as Digital Wargame Technician during wargaming events, resolving technical issues and ensuring all simulation programs function correctly.
