OVERVIEW

We are seeking qualified candidates for the position of to join our Structural Department.
This position is responsible for the completion of structural engineering design, investigation, and management of multiple projects of varying scope and complexity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer or working towards licensure in Ontario and/or Quebec. Must be in good standing with PEO and/or OIQ.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience
  • Professional experience in a consulting engineering or construction engineering environment managing structural investigation and restoration projects is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience with AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of analysis software (RISA 3D, Revit, SAP 2000, etc.) and design per governing wood, concrete, steel, and aluminum standards (CSA O86, CSA A23, CSA S16, and CSA S157)
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Self-motivating and ability to multi-task while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Good oral and written English communication skills. French oral and written communication skills are considered an asset.
  • Ability to act with business integrity and professionalism.
  • Working at Heights training.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Field work may include climbing ladders, performing inspections at higher elevations (including swing stages, with proper training) and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to occasionally lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities:

At Lascelles, our structural department performs a wide range of unique structural analyses and design. The successful proponent would be tasked with a wide range of duties, including primarily the following responsibilities:

  • Completion of engineering design assignments and management of projects of various scope and complexity,
  • Structural design for residential, industrial, agricultural, and commercial properties and custom builds,
  • Structural assessment/review of existing buildings/structures including adequacy review, code conformance or causes of failure,
  • Concrete rehabilitation: parking garages, balconies, other structures,
  • Railing and guard designs,
  • Retaining wall design and evaluation,
  • Written condition/evaluation reports,
  • Application of design software for structural design in conjunction with senior Engineers,
  • Use of a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques to solve problems,
  • Field review of structural related construction (e.g. reinforcing steel, wood/steel framing, etc.),
  • Office review of structural engineering shop drawings and calculations,
  • Assist other engineers in conducting technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data an adherence to prescribed testing analysis, design, or computation methods,
  • Client interfacing, as required,
  • Various other miscellaneous services.
