The Junior Engineer is responsible for supporting renewable energy projects, such as wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). This includes progressing projects already in the pipeline and identifying, assessing, and managing new opportunities for inclusion in the development pipeline. The Junior Engineer works collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure technical, regulatory, and commercial aspects of projects are effectively managed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in renewable energy, energy infrastructure, or related sectors.

SKILLS

  • Efficient and effective project management.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated use of initiative and a common-sense approach.
  • Technical understanding of wind, solar, and BESS technologies. Familiarity with grid connection processes and energy yield modelling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant technical tools.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in progressing renewable energy projects through feasibility, planning, and pre-construction phases. Support the definition of project development plans, schedules and budgets.
  • Initiate and manage environmental assessment, and planning approvals, with the support of external consultants.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams on procurement processes, design development, yield assessment and grid connection studies.
  • Support the preparation of technical documentation
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Engineering, Energy Resource, Energy Markets, Legal, Finance) to ensure alignment on project requirements.
  • Contribute to the preparation of Investment Dossiers and internal approvals.
  • Identify, document and mitigate risks.
  • Interpret and apply technical data related to site conditions, energy yield, and grid capacity.
  • Liaise with engineering teams to review and refine project layouts, electrical designs, and connection strategies.
  • Support the evaluation of technology options and technical risk assessments.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving technologies and standards in renewable energy systems.
  • Engage with key stakeholders in the local communities.
  • Represent the company in public-private initiatives, industry forums, and community sessions.
