SUMMARY

We are seeking a detailed-oriented junior mechanical estimator with experience to join our estimating department. Position reports to the Chief Estimator. The Junior Estimator will play a key role in supporting our growth by delivering precise cost assessments for various mechanical projects.

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience in mechanical estimating, preferably within the mechanical contracting industry.
• 2+ years of experience in estimating for HVAC, sheet metal, or commercial/industrial construction
• High school diploma of GED (Required)
• Proficient in using specialized sheet metal estimating software
• Understanding of sheet metal ductwork systems, materials, and fabrication processes
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Excellent organizational skills
• The ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, in a deadline-based, fast paced environment
• Familiarity with construction documents
• A working knowledge of computers in particular Microsoft Office (Mainly Excel)
• Work well with others and bring a positive attitude
• Strong mathematical, blueprint reading and decision-making skills will be necessary to perform the tasks required

Work Location: In perso

• Perform both manual and Trimble take-offs from mechanical drawings.
• Reviews tender packages (drawings, specifications, and tender documents) for all tenders they are assigned. Ensure that new projects are created in Trimble with correct material specifications, assembly details.
• Interprets customer bid requirements, to assemble detailed and complete Labor, Material, Equipment and Expense summaries for review and closing.
• Coordinate with general contractors and clients regarding tender queries, RFI’s and final submissions
• Prepare tender forms and lead for sheet chief estimator’s review
• Closely review equipment supplier quotations to ensure all equipment and accessories have been correctly accounted for as per mechanical drawings.
• Collaborates with other estimators/divisions within company to help assemble detailed and complete multi-trade proposals
• Provides support to the project on an ongoing basis, to Project Managers and Field Staff
• Lead the project hand-over to the operations team. Review drawings, specifications and cost breakdown
• Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of financial records as they relate to the organization and its business partners
• Follow up with clients as to estimate status.
• Manage time & responsibilities to adhere to strict deadline job closings.
