Our Specialized Stainless Steel fabrication facility is looking for an energetic and technically competent on the
floor junior manager to join our dynamic team.
The candidate needs to have strong technical understanding, organized and logical thought processes and be
physically fit to meet the demands of this position.
This position is 100% hands-on on the fabrication floor and is not an office management position.
Strong people management skills are essential for this position.
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all levels of staff is essential.
Extensive experience in steel fabrication (Stainless Steel is a definite advantage) with proven track record is an
absolute necessity.
The candidate must have mechanical understanding as well as organized logic in order to drive quality
performance and meet strict production and project delivery deadlines.
The candidate must be able to work in a high-output production facility and manage multiple complex tasks
simultaneously.
The candidate must be computer literate in MS Word and Excel.
Experience with CAD and nesting software is an advantage.
The ability to read and interpret CAD drawings is a prerequisite.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Trade Test or Technical Diploma is an advantage.
  • A management diploma is an advantage.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of work experience with a proven track record in a fabrication facility is a necessity.
  • Knowledge of the OHS Act is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of more than one official language is an advantage.
  • Experience with all facets of steel fabrication.
  • Knowledge of welding procedures and/or codes.

Responsibilities
  • Daily meeting with the Production Manager to receive Job Information Packs and Schedules.
  • Overseeing the daily fabrication schedule from the preparation area to final assembly.
  • Issuing of Job Files, drawings, and work instructions to artisans in various departments.
  • Supervision of All artisans to ensure that work instructions are adhered to.
  • Daily shop floor toolbox talks.
  • Conformance with DSTI’s in line with the OHS act.
  • Collaborate with various departments to optimize workflow and resolve any problem areas.
  • Supervise and coordinate the pre-fabrication department.
  • Supervise and coordinate artisans in the assembly department to ensure required tasks and schedules as
    given by the Production Manager are met.
  • Supervise and coordinate welding operations within the entire Fabrication Facility.
  • Ensure adherence of Boiler making and Welding to required standards.
  • Coordinate and supervise all NDT’s withing the Fabrication Facility.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment and uphold housekeeping and safety regulations.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment to standard.
  • Daily and weekly reporting to the Production Manager on progress throughout the Fabrication Floor.
  • Upkeep of Job Files, work instructions, and NDT Documentation.
